I started working on my first Shatterpoint mini on December 2, 2024, with what is, for me, a new mindset for minis games: “Play with gray.”

“Shatterpointmas” 2024 vaulted me from the core box plus one squad to a proper library of options — it was an exciting day!

Game mat
I’m using a Desert Paths mat from Gray Matter Gaming, which is in the pictures above. Hoth holds a special place in my heart, but when I picture Star Wars I picture sand and Tatooine; after a lot of soul-searching I went with my gut on this one.
It’s a great mat. It’s thin, which means it’s also lightweight, but it lays flat and stays in place well. It also includes a heavy duty cardboard tube around which it can be rolled, so unlike every other neoprene battle mat I’ve ever owned it stays rigid during storage and transport.
